Guerilla Prototyping - The introduction

Guerilla Prototyping is a phrase I made up to describe an approach I use to create rough, proof of concept prototypes.

(Yes, a lot of them are ugly...but I can get them to work)

Dremel tools are critical. (Why do they spin towards you and spit hot plastic in your face? I bet the ones in France don't...Payback I guess)

Guerilla Prototyping is not for the clumsy or injury prone. You could permanently lose functionality of critical body parts very quickly.

Mechanically disinclined? Hire someone.

A hack saw can take the end of your thumb off very quickly. It is ugly to behold and painful to endure.

Guerilla Prototyping does not require an extremely large investment in tools.

One man's junk is in another man's basement. If this applies to you then you are well on your way.

If you look at something and see parts of your invention already there then you have the gift.

Guerilla Protoyping is for those people with a bunch of ideas and not a whole lot of money.

Guerilla Prototyping is simply a quick way to help others see your concept and to get a sense of accomplishment and the rush that somes with it.

About Me

I am an inventor and a self proclaimed master at the art of Guerilla Prototyping. All new things are a variation of old things. The catch is in the amount that the old things need to be varied.

Bold statement, huh? Name one thing that a human has been created that came from another planet. Everything is a variation on something a human dug up.

Keeping that in mind, a lot of inventions are created to overcome the shortcomings of something in existence. A better way. Guerilla prototyping means that the proof of concept prototype comes from physically combining, modifying or otherwise imposing you will upon something someone else has created.

One purpose of this blog is to shorten the amount of time it takes to go "from concept to asset".

There are many hurdles to jump along the way...hopefully this blog will give you a lift.

Electronic Filing

I filled out the form and I am awaiting my Customer Number from the uspto. I started this blog because the uspto's website can be confusing and intimidating to some. The electronic filing system they have created can be found here .

I believe that this system will decrease the amount of time it takes to stake your claim on your concept/invention.

I have done the paper filing before and that took a few weeks...we will see if the electronic filing system is any better.
